We are happy to announce that we are part of a recently awarded IAF-PP lead by Yen Choo from NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Our research team’s goal is to improve production of stem cell-based products in a cGMP setting, through leveraging direct cell programming. This will potentially lead to more reliable, cost-effective manufacturing of cell-based medicines. In contrast to the traditional, stepwise, cell differentiation approaches, direct (or forward) cell programming seeks to directly convert one cell type to another through manipulating gene regulatory networks governing cell identity. Central to this project is our use of Plasticell Limited‘s CombiCult approach to simultaneously explore thousands of transcription factor combinations for reprograming various human cell types. Do look forward to the fruits of our work in a few years’ time!
